Amazon Goofed up the shippingMar 05, 2010 I have had several of these Ironman Data Link watches over the years. I really like the Data Link feature. I sync my PC's clock to an internet atomic clock, then sync the watch's time to my PC. I also like having backup phone numbers and appointments on my wrist in case I'm not near my smartphone. I also like all the timers and alarms that can be configured on my PC and then used to customize the watch's behavior.
It's true that the batteries wear down quickly and you have to be careful to make sure the O-ring seal is back in place after the battery is replaced. (I use my watch in the ocean too and dive down to moderate depths).
So I think I will really like this replacement watch. But the watch WASEN'T REALLY IN STOCK, even though Amazon said it was. So the shipment was delayed. OK, I can get over that because it was only a short delay. However, when I track the progress of my "free 2 day shipping", I find that it was sent via Parcel Post, not Priority Mail. So it isn't going to arrive within 2 weeks. Shame on Amazon!!!
I'll guess that I'm really going to like this watch, but drop a star for the "dropped ball". Sure wish I knew if I liked it or not.
Best watch everMar 02, 2010 This is the fourth time I have bought this particular watch. I love it. It does everything. It's good to have my most important phone numbers in the watch because I do not always have my cell phone on me. When I work with people in India, all I have to do is touch my watch to see what time it is there. The count down timer has saved me from a parking ticket more than once. What else. Well it is great for tracking my workouts in the pool and when I'm running. It's also nice to be able to tell a sales clerk that he is attempting to close his store too early since my watch is correct within a second because I sync my watch with an atomic time server via my PC. It's also great at reminding me of appointments because I do not have my Palm on me all the time. Updating the watch is easy. Just update the information on your computer than attach the watch with the USB connector (which is provided). It only takes a few seconds. Buy this watch. It is the best watch ever.
USB WatchFeb 04, 2010 I purchased this watch to help me keep track of dr appts for my kids, reminders for activities, alerts when its time to leave for the bus stop, gym and so forth. For the most part I enjoy this watch. We are a MAC only family so I have yet to take advantage of the additional addons that the software offers. I like the fact that it is water resistant. I am able to swim laps at the gym and have some kid free mommy time without having to stop and look at the clock. I just wish they made a female version with mac compatibility.
The only watch that has these featuresFeb 02, 2010 This is the third Ironman Databank watch I have owned. Simply put; it is the only watch I have found that has all the programmable features I need and want. Countdown timers, alarms, appointments, plus other apps make this a one-of-a-kind-watch. I wish Timex would make it in an all stainless model. Of course, I would love to have an Omega Speedmaster or Rolex GMT, but other than tell the time, date and where one has a chrono, they fall short in features. If I could afford it, I would have both, but for the price, there is no other watch in the world that has these features. I don't know what I will do if they stop making this remarkable watch.
After 6 year still love the watchJan 29, 2010 I'm really hard on watches and the Timex USB Datalink watch has never failed me. I've owned one since it first came out six or eight years ago. Yes, the rubber wristbands only last a couple of years, and my batteries need replacement after about three years. I have all of my Outlook contacts (about 550) with telephone numbers (chose not to include email or snail mail address so I can get a lot of contacts into it). I stopped carry my PDA shortly after I bought it. I've replace it once after my first one started looking really scruffy (like I said I'm really hard on watches), but the first one is still running just fine. Large display is good enough even for my 70 year old eyes!!! I never leave home without it! Sorry to see it not still advertised on the Timex website.
